1 sachet of dried yeast (5 g)

100 ml of warm water

250 g of plain flour

1 pinch of salt

5 g of sugar

30 g of butter

200 ml of semi-skimmed milk

Add the yeast into the warm water and stir for 5 minutes or until fully dissolved. Leave to rest for 10 minutes.

Add all the ingredients into the bowl fitted with the dough hook. Switch on the machine and run for 30 seconds until the dough forms a ball.

  • 30 g of butter
  • 200 ml of semi-skimmed milk

Transfer the dough to a large bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Leave to rise for 1 hour near a heat source and away from drafts.

Generously oil pastry rings and a frying pan. Place the rings on the pan (heated to medium heat) and pour a small ladle of mixture into them. Cook for about 8 minutes, then turn the crumpets over and brown on the other side for about 1 minute.

Repeat the process until all the dough is used up. Make sure to lightly oil the pastry rings and pan each time.
